I am named after a Cornish saint, who supposedly drove the wolves from Cornwall. He was also allegedly invulnerable to them. I have yet to discover whether this trait comes with the name, or was a fact due to something else. Maybe it was something Saint Ruan ate. Who knows?
Despite writers hating clichés with a passion, I nevertheless conform to the one most commonly found on the inside of novels, in the author bio. I have been writing since as long as I can remember (and before that too, apparently; my parents have video evidence).
Whether its kingdoms and castles or far-off planets in the future, my work has to have some kind of ground in reality. I believe the best stories are the ones that make you ask yourself a question about your own personal philosophies and beliefs. My stories try to do this in some shape or form. As well as fantasy and science fiction, I also write humour pieces, in particular satire, as well as articles on a range of topics.
As well as being a writer, both professionally and creatively, I have also dabbled in stand-up comedy, film making and music. Creativity is incredibly important to me, and writing is my living and my life. Throughout the years, I have sharpened and honed my writing skills by tackling a number of different projects and mediums, including novels, scripts, short stories, blogging (obviously), professional web copy and marketing. I am a constant believer in bettering myself.
My first novel, Politics in Blood, is currently being sent to agents and publishers. I hope you will join me on my journey towards becoming a published author. There will be jokes.
